When someone searches "pharmacy near me" or "computer repair in Lahore", Google shows a map with three businesses on top, and they get most of the calls. Getting there is free. You need a Google Business Profile (it used to be called Google My Business), set up properly.

What it shows

Your name and location on Google Search and Maps, phone, WhatsApp and website, opening hours, photos, reviews and posts about offers. For shops, clinics, schools and local services it's probably the most useful free marketing there is.

Set it up in 6 steps

  1. Create it at business.google.com with a business Google account you control. Use your exact signboard name (adding extra keywords can get you suspended), the right main category, and your address or service areas.
  2. Verify it. Google may ask for a short video of your signboard and premises, a code by phone, SMS or email, or a postcard. Follow its steps.
  3. Fill in everything: hours (including Ramadan and holidays), a 2–3 sentence description, products and services with prices.
  4. Add real photos: outside, inside, products, team, logo. Add new ones every month.
  5. Get reviews: ask happy customers and share your review link on WhatsApp. Reply to every review, and never buy fake ones.
  6. Stay active: post offers or news every week or two, answer questions and keep details up to date.

Rank higher on Google Maps

Google looks at relevance (does your profile match the search?), distance and prominence (how known and well-reviewed you are). To improve:

  • pick the right main and extra categories
  • keep your name, address and phone exactly the same everywhere online
  • link your website and mention your city and area on it
  • collect reviews steadily, not all at once
